Here's Kathleen's take on The Little Book by Selden Edwards:
I’m not usually a fan of either time travel or fantastical fiction but once in a great while a book comes along and completely changes my mind—the last time this happened was in 2004 with Andrew Sean Greer’s The Confessions of Max Tivoli—and now it’s happening again; Selden Edwards’ The Little Book is the book! I found myself wanting to read it as slowing as I could; I wanted to savor each beautifully crafted sentence and experience the finely honed details of another time with Edwards’ protagonist, Wheeler Burden. Incorporating time travel, historical fiction, with a life altering love story Edwards’ magically weaves a believable tale of one family’s multigenerational visit to 1897 Vienna. The Little Book is the one galley our staff is fighting over. So far we’re four for four, we’ve all loved it! Now we just have to wait until August 14th when it goes on sale and we can put it in the hands of all our favorite customers!
